Paris Hilton Arrested for DUI

Socialite, Paris Hilton, stopped in Hollywood early Thursday morning for DUI.

Paris DUI PhotoParis Hilton was arrested and charged with suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI). Los Angeles, California police stopped the 25 year-old hotel heiress and social icon in Hollywood around 12:30 am Thursday after noticing her driving "erratically."

LA Police Officers observed symptoms of intoxication and conducted a field sobriety test, which Hilton reportedly failed. A breath test registered a blood alcohol level just above the California legal limit of .08. She was charged with a misdemeanor DUI and released.

Hilton was driving her Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren home from a charity event where she is said to have had one margarita. The event, hosted by Dave Navarro, was held at the West Hollywood hotspot Dragon Fly. It included a concert by Suicide Girls and was organized to benefit brain cancer patients. At the time of the arrest Hilton was accompanied by Kimberley Stewart, daughter of rocker Rod Stewart.

Hilton’s spokesperson, Elliot Minz, dismissed the incident, stating that her symptoms were probably from an empty stomach and fatigue. Hilton had spent part of the day shooting a video for her new album titled ‘Paris’. In addition to that and the charity event, she was also seen at a magazine party and a nightclub in the 24 hours before the arrest. When released at about 2 in the morning she was met by an entourage that included her sister Nicky Hilton and Nicky's boyfriend Kevin Connolly.

Hilton was released from the police station in less than one and a half hours, whereas those arrested for DUI are typically held for three hours. Police cited the gathering of paparazzi blocking the streets as the reason for the early release. Her publicist stated that she "went through the same procedure that everybody else does", and that there was no special treatment.

Hilton has expressed regrets about the incident. On Thursday morning she called Ryan Seacrest’s Los Angeles radio show and denied she was driving drunk.

If convicted of a first-time DUI, Hilton could receive three months probation, be required to join an alcohol awareness program and have her driver’s license suspended for 90 days.

Paris Hilton celebrity is partly based on her appearances in the television reality show ‘The Simple Life’, a sex video circulated on the internet, and the near constant reporting of her party lifestyle.

If you have been charged with drunk driving in Southern California you will need to hire a qualified Los Angeles DUI attorney to help you fight not only your California DUI charge, but help you save your California Driver's License.
